Yom Ha'Atzmaut: Israel's Independence Day

Yom Ha'Atzmaut (Israeli Independence Day) marks the anniversary of the establishment of the modern state of Israel in 1948. It is observed on or near the 5th of the Hebrew month of Iyar on the Jewish calendar, which usually falls in April. It is preceded by Yom HaZikaron (Israeli Memorial Day).

Philadelphia Tekes Ma'avar: Ceremony and Celebration
Tuesday, April 28 at 6:30 pm

This special ceremony marks the end of Memorial Day and the beginning of Independence Day; it begins with a Yom HaZikaron ceremony and continues into an uplifting Philadelphia musical community celebration of Israel.

Wednesday, April 29 at 10:00 am

The Daniel Centers for Progressive Judaism is hosting an East Coast celebration with Beit David in Tel Aviv and Temple Sinai in Sarasota, FL. Though Coronavirus and oceans separate us, we can still rejoice in Israel's Indepedence Day with our cohorts in Israel and across America with songs, prayers, and words of wisdom.

Celebrate in prayer and song with the Israel Movement for Reform and Progressive Judaism and featuring Former US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro, Israel Consul General in New York Danny Dayan, leaders of the Israel Reform Movement, and Rabbis and lay leaders of Reform and Progressive Judaism worldwide, and a joyous song session with musicians of the Israel Reform Movement.
